Kirkland's (NASDAQ:KIRK) announced that earnings fell by six percent in the fourth quarter versus the same period last year. The company earned $14.2 million, or 83 cents per share on revenue of $162 million. Analysts had expected earnings of 74 cents per share on revenue of $162 million. Comparable store sales decreased by 2.6 percent.
Shares are lower by about a tenth of a percent.
Core-Mark Holding (CORE) announced that profit in the fourth quarter increased by more than 86 percent, helped by recent acquisitions. The company earned $9.7 million, or 83 cents per share, versus a profit of $5.2 million, or 45 cents per share, in the same period last year. Revenue increased by about three percent to $2.19 billion from $2.13 billion. Results were below expectations, however, with analysts expecting a profit of 82 cents per share on revenue of $2.24 billion.
