The US markets were headed higher on Monday morning after news broke over the weekend that Larry Summers had withdrawn his name from consideration as a candidate to replace Ben Bernanke as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Good morning this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for September 16, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was closed for trading while the Hang Seng gained just about 1.5% overnight. In Europe on Monday, the FTSE 100 was higher, gaining 0.7% and the German DAX advanced by 1.2% today.
On the earnings front, Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) reports on Tuesday afternoon, FedEx (NYSE:FDX) and General Mills (NYSE:GIS) report on Wednesday morning and Rite Aid (RAD) reports on Thursday morning.
On the economic front, investors will received CPI data on Tuesday, housing starts on Wednesday and initial jobless claims on Thursday.
