As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Thursday, Mattress Firm Holding (MFRM)'s SVP Finance, Alexander Weiss, made a $248,715 buy of MFRM, purchasing 5,326 shares at a cost of $46.70 each. Weiss was up about 3.6% on the purchase at the high point of today's trading session, with MFRM trading as high as $48.36 at last check today. Mattress Firm Holding is trading trading flat on the day Tuesday. This buy marks the first one filed by Weiss in the past twelve months.
And on Friday, Director Sol J. Barer bought $222,936 worth of Medgenics (MDGN), buying 28,000 shares at a cost of $7.96 each. Before this latest buy, Barer bought MDGN at 6 other times during the past year, for a total investment of $1.07M at an average of $6.46 per share. Medgenics is trading up about 3.8% on the day Tuesday.
