As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Friday, Beazer Homes USA (NYSE:BZH)'s Director, Stephen P. Zelnak Jr., made a $156,284 purchase of BZH, buying 10,000 shares at a cost of $15.63 each. So far Zelnak Jr. is in the green, up about 8.3% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $16.93. Beazer Homes USA is trading up about 1.5% on the day Tuesday. Before this latest buy, Zelnak Jr. purchased BZH on 2 other occasions during the past year, for a total cost of $485,878 at an average of $18.00 per share.
And on Monday, Vice President and Controller Robert J. Fouch purchased $154,224 worth of Alliance Resource Partners LP (NASDAQ:ARLP), purchasing 4,200 shares at a cost of $36.72 each. Alliance Resource Partners LP is trading up about 2.2% on the day Tuesday. So far Fouch is in the green, up about 3.0% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $37.84.
