Looking at the sectors faring worst as of midday Monday, shares of Energy companies are underperforming other sectors, showing a 0.2% loss. Within that group, APA Corp (NASDAQ:APA) and Occidental Petroleum Corp (NYSE:OXY) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 1.0% and 1.0%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLE), which is down 0.3% on the day, and up 41.83% year-to-date. APA Corp, meanwhile, is up 43.90% year-to-date, and Occidental Petroleum Corp is up 73.11% year-to-date. Combined, APA and OXY make up approximately 3.6% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, showing a 0.1% loss. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) and F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.9% and 2.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is flat on the day in midday trading, and up 16.80% on a year-to-date basis. HP Inc, meanwhile, is up 20.24% year-to-date, and F5 Networks, Inc. is up 5.81% year-to-date. Combined, HPQ and FFIV make up approximately 0.5% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
