In afternoon trading on Friday, Technology & Communications stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.9% loss. Within that group, Adobe Inc (NASDAQ:ADBE) and ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:NOW) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 14.3% and 4.4%, respectively. Among technology ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLK), which is down 1.5% on the day, and up 6.82% year-to-date. Adobe Inc, meanwhile, is down 18.02% year-to-date, and ServiceNow Inc is up 5.52% year-to-date. Combined, ADBE and NOW make up approximately 3.8% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
The next worst performing sector is the Healthcare sector, showing a 0.3% loss. Among large Healthcare stocks, Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:ABT) and West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (NYSE:WST) are the most notable, showing a loss of 4.8% and 2.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Healthcare stocks is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV), which is down 0.5% in midday trading, and up 6.50% on a year-to-date basis. Abbott Laboratories, meanwhile, is up 3.33% year-to-date, and West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. is up 10.67% year-to-date. Combined, ABT and WST make up approximately 4.2% of the underlying holdings of XLV.
