The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 351,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 140,000. Shares of VDC were up about 0.2% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Tuesday were Wal Mart Stores, trading off about 1.5% with over 9.6 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Kroger, down about 1.6% on volume of over 6.6 million shares. Archer Daniels Midland is the component faring the best Tuesday, up by about 4.1% on the day, while Central Garden & Pet is lagging other components of the Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF, trading lower by about 4.7%.
