The First Trust NYSE Arca Biotechnology Index Fund ETF (NYSE:FBT) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 66,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 32,000. Shares of FBT were up about 0.8% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ALNY), trading down about 8.9% with over 2.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA), up about 4.9% on volume of over 2.5 million shares. Alkermes (NASDAQ:ALKS) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 10.5% on the day.
